Advocacy Resource Hub
Conferences and Events
I took a break from beating my head against the wall with the google sheet embed to try out a calendar embed. This works really well, and will allow us to add events to a google calendar that will then automatically display on the website. I imagine we can load in all of the missing persons events on this calendar and highlight which ones we’ll have a presence at.
Option 1: posts displayed in accordion
This option can be fully styled and is device responsive, but it requires some care and feeding to maintain as resources are added and/or removed. It’s based on the posts function in WordPress, so each resource is a post. These can be pulled in via an import, which can also be configured to overwrite existing posts if something changes. Alternatively, the posts can be edited directly in the WordPress admin.
Option 2: google sheets embed
This option feeds directly from a google sheet – when the sheet is updated, the website follows pretty much instantly. The downside is that it is pretty rigid and the formatting is rudimentary, to say the least. Even the fonts in the original spreadshee don’t translate, although the colors do. This is just a limitation of google’s native “publish to web” functionality. It’s nimble, but not as pretty.
