You deserve answers, and you need meaningful support to bring your missing loved one home.

When a loved one goes missing, families are left with pain most people can’t imagine. For those whose loved ones are still missing after more than a year, the everyday uncertainty can be overwhelming. At Compass, our Advocacy Program is committed to serving families by providing critical resources, building public trust, and turning the lessons from our casework into actionable support for your family. All services are provided free of charge to families.

The heartbreaking truth is that some missing people die without their names, disconnected from their families and communities, and are listed only as Jane or John Doe in records. Many of these cases languish without clues to their identity. Our Advocacy program ensures you are empowered to take the concrete steps that will ensure your loved one can be identified should they be recovered but not identified.

We are here to support your family every step of the way.

Missing Persons DNA Toolkit: We’ll help you understand the differences between forensic and direct-to-consumer DNA testing and provide your family with a DNA test kit that you can take and upload to databases that consent to law enforcement use for investigative genetic genealogy.

Missing Persons Genealogical Support: We’ll work with your family to construct a detailed family tree for your missing person that can be uploaded to essential databases to assist with the Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) process in the event that your loved one is later found but can’t be identified.

Online Visibility: The Compass website and social media channels provide a forum for you to tell your story.

Strategic Partnerships: We partner with organizations that support families with public outreach and legislative action.

We’re getting ready to help – our application process will open later this year.
