Key terms:
Submitted to Lab: A sample of the person’s remains has been sent to the lab for DNA testing to produce a profile that can be uploaded to GEDmatch Pro, FamilyTreeDNA.com, and DNAJustice.org
Active IGG Research: Our team of volunteers is using investigative genetic genealogy techniques to identify the unknown person.
Resolved: The identity of the person has been confirmed.
IGG Endpoint: In some cases, our team cannot progress beyond a brick wall in their IGG work. Cases in this status may be on hold until new matches appear in the databases, or they may be handed back to our partners in law enforcement to pursue other types of leads.
Transferred: Compass IGG & Advocacy works on cases in partnership with law enforcement, medical examiners, and coroners, but the cases don’t belong to us. Upon request, our agency partners can transfer the case to another IGG provider.
